Junior Athletics Carnival

Last Friday students from Prep to Year 2 participated in a junior Athletics Carnival at Murphy Reserve. It was a fun day where students were encouraged to try their best at a range of different athletic events. We thank parent volunteers, teachers and Mr. Greene for making this day possible for our students.

Speak with Power

Speak with Power is a public speaking program for Year 5 students run by Ron Thomas. Our Year 5’s participated in a number of sessions with Ron learning how to construct a speech and present it confidently to an audience. It was wonderful to watch the students progress through the program and perform their final speeches with confidence. The Speak with Power program has been running at Galilee for a number of years in Year 5. We can see the difference it makes when our students are in Year 6 and are often asked to speak to audiences or conduct school tours. Thank you to Dan and Adrian, our Year 5 teachers, for organising this program for our students to participate in.

STEM National

Today a group of Year 2 students and a group of Year 6 students represented Galilee at STEM National. STEM National is a prestigious STEM competition for Primary and Secondary Catholic Schools across the Nation. Only select teams are invited to participate. Two student teams from Galilee were chosen, from thousands of applications, to present their work at STEM MAD last month. Both of our student teams made it through to the finals, STEM National. We are very proud of our students and would like to thank their teachers for giving them the opportunity to engage in rich STEM learning. STEM has been a focus at Galilee for the past two years and we are excited to see our students doing so well in their area.
