Eastern Metropolitan (Primary) Region Athletics Carnival

Primary Students across the Eastern Metropolitan region met at the Regionals Athletics Carnival.  Ringwood North had 4 students represented on the day.

To make it to this carnival means that these students have huge skill and potential in the Athletics domain. They are in the top percentage of elite athletes for their age. They all competed to the best of their abilities and gave it absolutely everything in their events. The RNPS community are very proud of their efforts this year and look forward to what they can continue to achieve by being part of these fantastic experiences.

School Sport Australia (SSA) Girls 12 Years and Under Football Soccer Championship

One of our very own Grade 6 students has just come down from the high of being part of the School Sport Australia (SSA) Girls 12 Years and Under Football (Soccer) Championship team. During week 3 (while all her peers were on camp in Warrnambool) Lucy Bray was very proudly representing Victoria in the U/12 Girls Soccer team. I can not express enough how much of an achievement this is. She was part of a squad of 14 girls, the best 14 girls for their age in soccer across all of Victoria. Lucy and her team had the privilege to compete for the championship at the new Home of the Matildas field in Bundoora.

The process to make a SSV team is lengthy, it begins in the first few weeks in Term 1, Teachers at RNPS hold tryouts for multiple sports. Guided by the SSV we have to look for students with elite skills, game sense, sportsmanship, leadership and discipline to name a few. Each school is only able to nominate a maximum of 3 students. Once nominated students attend trials and compete against the best in Victoria, the process is highly pressured but if successful allows students a platform to develop their elite skills.

I was lucky enough to watch one of Lucy’s games and it was of a great standard. Lucy and her team (Victoria) competed against all teams from each state in Australia. She played some wonderful Soccer scoring the first 2 goals for her team in their first game and finished the Championshi[p with a total of 4 goals. Lucy has done herself, family and RNPS very proud from the time she trialied for the SSV team. Congratulations Lucy this is a remarkable achievement, and from seeing your skills I am sure there is so much more for you to achieve!

Teddy Bear Picnic

Last Wednesday the Preps, Grade 3's and 6's enjoyed a special buddy afternoon together with their teddy bears for the very special Teddy Bear Picnic. The trio of buddies participated in some fun games, making some cute teddy bear crowns and even turned our teddies into amazing superheros with capes and masks! After all the fun activities were done we had a teddy bear picnic and enjoyed eating our lunch together, while listening to some fun music.

It was a beary good day for all!

Grandparents Day

On Monday the Preps got to enjoy a special celebration with their Grandparents and Special People. The Preps sang songs, showed off the beautiful portraits they’d painted of their Grandparents, enjoyed watching some videos of the special things they’d done in Prep and enjoyed a picnic lunch together. It was so lovely to have their special people visit us at school and the Preps had the best day!

Shark Tank

During the first two weeks of term four, the Year Four students worked in small groups to plan, write, edit, revise and present their very own persuasive ‘Shark Tank’ presentations to a panel of judges. The competition was fierce, and the competitive juices were flowing!

After making their presentation, each team received detailed feedback based on their strengths and an area for improvement. Thank you to Mr Chatterton and Mrs Trend for playing the role of our ‘Sharks’.

Some highlights included:

Alex: ‘I liked drawing the product’

Eliot: ‘I enjoyed writing a persuasive script and creating a SlideShow presentation’

Maddie: ‘I loved working in a group and learning new persuasive techniques’

Our winning team received 10,000 house points each, and the honour of being awarded the very first ‘Ringwood North Primary School Shark Tank Champions’.
