Year 9 Community Project Final Presentations

We are excitedly awaiting our Year 9 MYP Community Project (CP) presentations which are set to take place on Wednesday 1 November in the Middle Years building from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.

Students will be given the opportunity to showcase their learning throughout the whole process to their parents/guardians, as well as their mentor teachers. Included in these presentations will be their links to subject learning, an overview of their chosen project itself, the highs and lows of their journey as well as their success and challenges.

This project itself allows students to apply their academic knowledge to real-world issues, fostering a deeper understanding of the subjects they've studied. It promotes a sense of responsibility and global citizenship by encouraging students to engage with their local communities and make a positive impact. Moreover, it helps students develop essential life skills, such as research, communication, and time management.

By presenting the final presentation of their project to parents and teachers, students gain a sense of accomplishment and recognition for their hard work, which boosts their confidence and motivation. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for parents and teachers to witness the growth and development of the students, creating a stronger school-home connection and fostering a supportive learning environment.

Hints on how to calmly prepare for exams for Middle School Students

With Middle Year exams coming up, we thought we’d share some practical and easy to follow hints on how to calmly prepare for these:

  1. Plan and Organise: Create a practical and realistic study schedule to stay organised and avoid last-minute cramming.
  2. Understand the Material: Focus on comprehension, not just the memorisation of facts. Ask yourself ‘Where can it be authentically applied?’, ‘What is its purpose?’ ‘Can it be applied elsewhere?’ Making these connections helps us retain the information better. Also… ask for help if needed!
  3. Practice Regularly: Consistent practice, like short mock tests or exercises, can boost confidence and reduce anxiety.
  4. Take Care of Your Health: Get enough sleep, eat well, and practice relaxation techniques. Think… healthy body… healthy mind!
  5. Use Different Study Techniques: Experiment with various methods to find what works best for you and take into account your schedule as well.

Information Night for Year 6 in 2024

This is an important event for current Year 5 students who are preparing for studies in Year 6 at Good News Lutheran College next year. We strongly encourage at least one parent to attend the information night. Please mark this event in your calendars:
