AGTV Poetry Competition - State Finals

We had four students compete in the State Finals of the German Poetry competition - Rishi and Pyrene for Year 5, as well as Sandaru and Leon for Year 6. To reach the State Finals they won gold and silver medals in the Regional Finals. We are extremely proud of our students who reached this stage of the competition.

Pyrene, Sandaru and Leon were all winners in the quiz that was held on the day.

Congratulations to Sandaru who was placed 4th in the Year 6 DaF (German as a foreign language).

Year 3 Science Incursion- Rock Formations

We had a Science Incursion on Tuesday 10 October.  The Year 3’s first did a science experiment. We used chalk and sand. What we did was use a container and a piece of chalk, a bit of sand, a spoon and a transparent container. Firstly, put two spoons of sand in the container, along with the chalk. Then, put the lid on the container and close it. After that, pick up the container with chalk and sand and shake it rapidly for twenty- five seconds. Lastly, open the lid carefully and pour it into the transparent container, and see what happens to the chalk and sand. We also learnt about igneous, sedimentary and metaphoric rocks. Sedimentary rocks have different layers. We learnt about fossils, and we made our very own sedimentary rocks made out of plasticine. Lastly, we had some Gallium in a little container on top of a wider container with boiling hot water. We had lots of fun!
