Western Metro Region Track and Field

Western Metro Region Athletics was a great day for the students who attended. They demonstrated excellent behaviour throughout the day, supporting everyone!

We had two students going through to States as a result - Holly Gardiner and Josh Faamausili.

We would like to commend our relay girls - especially Meesha for stepping in last minute. The girls ran in the U16 age group and managed to finish 2nd, which was a fantastic result!

Western Metro Athletics (Junior & Middle Years)

On 17 October, Tevin Uhi represented the 11 boys 200m, Raphael Singh with the 11 boys long jump and Tevita Uhi with the 12-13 shot put. These three students made it to the regional championship, which is a strong achievement!

Victorian State Track and Field Competition

On Tuesday 10 October, eight students represented GNLC at the WMR Track & Field Carnival.

We had many top 3 results, and had 2 students winning their events, which progressed them through to State level competition on Monday. Holly Gardiner won her Triple Jump with a jump of 9:46m, and Josh Faamausili won the shot put with a throw of 12.86 (4kg shot put). An excellent result.

I would like to commend our relay girls (Tahnee U14, Holly U15, Meesha U15, Rita U16) especially Meesha Herath in year 10 who was able to step in for an injured team member last minute. The girls ran in the U16 age group and managed to finish 2nd which was awesome.

On the day there were 67 schools that competed. GNLC finished in 22nd place which is an amazing achievement.

SSV Secondary Track & Field State Championships

On Monday 16 October, SSV Secondary Track & Field State Championships were held at Lakeside Stadium.

GNLC was represented by our two students mentioned above, Holly and Josh and a big congratulations goes out to both students.

Holly finished in 4th place in U15 girls Triple Jump, with a jump of 9.70m, and Josh 5th place in the U15 Boys Shot Put with a throw of 11.53m. A truly amazing effort to finish 4th and  5th  place across Victoria.

Congratulations to all of our Athletes who have represented our College with pride over the last 5-6 months.
