Term 4

Week 4 and 6

Foundation Where is the Green Sheep?

Foundation students tried their hand at wet felting to make a beautiful textile collage featuring the story "Where is the Green Sheep" by Mem Fox and Judy Horacek. Students discovered changes when fluffy fleece gets wet, patted and rolled, it turns into felt! The following week when our felt was dry, students added black sheep heads, ears and legs and created a scene with fluorescent pastels.

Grade 1 Necktie Snakes

What does one do with a surplus of outdated neckties? We make snakes of course! Students practiced cutting felt shapes (which is very tricky) and then decorated their snakes. We stuffed their heads with scrap felt then put wire inside to make our snakes bendy and to bring them to life!

Grade 2 Yarn Painting

Grade 2 artists created these beautiful yarn paintings with lengths of coloured wool and sticky contact (the kind used to cover your books) and LOTS of patience and an understanding of line and movement.

Sewing

Our Mullum students are learning to measure thread, thread needles, transfer patterns and sew felt. We encourage and assist each-other when things get a little tricky, especially when you run out of hands to hold things in place!
