End of Year Exams and Events

The end of the year is always a time of finishing off and testing what has been learnt. It is also a challenge for many students who find the pressured situation of an exam tricky to navigate. I would like to thank the work that parents and teachers have done to support our students in Year 12 exams which finished on Wednesday 15 November, and also for the Year 10 and 11 exams that are about to take place.

The Year 11 exams are indicated below and the Year 10 exams will also occur during this period during usual class time. For students who may need morale boosting the short 4-minute video attached here may help provide some perspective:

You are not your thoughts

I would encourage you to have a look at this video as recommended by our Wellbeing Team and have a conversation with your student. If further help is needed please contact the Wellbeing Team.

The Awards assembly for Year 10 and 11 students is held on Wednesday 22 November after the final exam. Clearly the timeline for all our Dux results and subject awards that rely on exams may not be able to be presented due to the tight timeline, however, they will be awarded early in 2024.

The Year 12 Speech Night is Thursday 30 November at Edwardstown Baptist Church, as per the letter that has been sent home to all Year 12 families.

Finally, we reach the fabulous end of the year for Year 10 students with ABW which is such a great event that allows students to be creative, work collaboratively, achieve SACE points and wear casual clothing! If you can make it to their final presentation it is very impressive.

Once again I would like to thank all families for their ongoing support to the College as we finish a year that has flown by and look forward to the exciting changes ahead. I pray that blessing will follow all of our students and God’s face will shine on them.

Exam Timetables

Note:

  •  The Exam length is between 1.5 - 2.10 hours
  •  If your subject has an exam at Stage 2 you are required to have an exam at Stage 1
  •  If you are not required to have an exam, the allotted time (double lesson) is to complete course work.

Year 11 Food and Hospitality High Tea

Our Year 11 Food and Hospitality students recently hosted their SACE Assessment High Tea in the Home Economics courtyard.

From scones to cucumber sandwiches, the students blew formally invited staff away with their delicious handmade goods, exemplary service and elegant decorations.

Having visited Brackendale Tea Room for research, these students went above and beyond to host this gorgeous High Tea!

Year 12 Child Studies

My Year 12 child studies class recently made some beautiful items for the South Australian School for the visually impaired.

These items will accompany the assessment team as they visit families with young children who have recently been diagnosed with a visual impairment. The items are designed to encourage sensory development, particularly touch and sound.

We dropped into SASVI to deliver the items where this photo was taken with the Principal and two members of the Assessment Team.

Year 11 Child Studies

The Year 11 Child Studies class is studying the importance of Children's play.

As part of their study they visited the ELC at Brooklyn Park and spent time looking at all the amazing play zones set up by the educators there. Did you know that play is generally categorised under six types:

  1. Imaginative
  2. Creative
  3. Manipulative
  4. Physical
  5. Discovery
  6. Social

The Year 11s and the 3-5-year-olds in the ELC tested out each type of play together.

It was hard to pull them away!
