From the Principal

We are quickly racing towards the end of the year! Our priority at Langwarrin Park Primary School is to create the safest and happiest learning environment for each student, teacher and parent. Recently I attended a professional learning session that focused on the building of a positive school culture. What resonated with me the most were the 'pillars' that contribute most to having a positive culture. These were:

  1. Language
  2. Conduct
  3. Mindset

Everyone contributes to the culture we have at Langwarrin Park Primary School. It is not just our school leadership team that defines it. It's our students, it's our Education Support Staff, it's our teachers and it's our parents and carers who do as well.

What contributes to the safe learning environment we have at Langwarrin Park Primary School is the culture we have.

So, as we move into the second half of Term 4 we need to be working together to ensure that the language we use, our conduct and mindset is always positive. We need to continue to celebrate and share the success stories. We need to continue to manage concerns in a calm and respectful manner. When this happens, it will positively impact on everyone in our community.

Colour Blast Run

Unfortunately, this week I have been on sick leave and as a result missed our Colour Run. I have seen many photos and videos of the day and not surprisingly, it looked like all our kids had a great time. Once again, our amazing PFC did a wonderful job to plan and run this whole school event. I would like to thank them for all their efforts to make this happen. I would like to also thank all our families who fundraised a considerable amount of money for this event. I look forward to being slimed by a number of students who raised a large amount of money for the run!

Semester 2 Reports

As I write this report, our teachers have a student free curriculum day, so they can work on their Semester 2 reports. We will be using Compass for the first time with these reports and you will notice some differences to them when they published at the end of the term.

Melbourne Cup Long Weekend

On Monday our school will be open as usual. Please be aware there will be a number of staff who will not been on site due to acquitting Time In Lieu. We will be running a modified timetable on Monday.

On Tuesday it is a Melbourne Cup public holiday.

Last Day of Term 4

I have been given approval by school council to have the final Professional Practice Day (PPD) for teachers to be student free on the last day of Term 4 (Wednesday 20th December). Due to the chronic lack of CRTs, we are not able to facilitate the PPDs with students on site.

The last day of the school year will be Tuesday 19th December. The school finishing time on this day will be 3.30pm.

I wish everyone a safe and happy weekend.

Cheers,

Richard
