Principal's Reports

Jenny Dowsett

Friday 27th October - Happy World Teachers Day to our wonderful Teachers.  We appreciate your dedication and hard work.  Thank you for all the work you do for each and every one of our students.

School Camps:

Welcome back to our Grade 5/6 campers. It sounds like the students had a wonderful learning experience. A huge thank you to Janice Tourk and Noel Mollison for volunteering to support our staff and students by attending camp. Also thank you to Glenys Howard, Nicole Stark, Anthony Craig and Leanne McKane for your dedication in planning and running the camp. Our students are fortunate to have a dedicated team to ensure they get to take part in such a worthwhile camp experience. I hope the adults and students enjoy plenty of sleep on the weekend.

Next week the 3 /4 students are off to camp. Staff attending will be John Wigg, Maxine Howard, Leanne McKane and myself. Thanks to Sherrall Cini for being our parent volunteer supporting camp.

Parents and Friends:

Our P&F team is a small team but they have been doing a power of work to support our school and students. Recent work by the P&F had included a $500 grant to purchase Occupational Therapy equipment for our students, fundraising through the colour run to by sports equipment for playtimes, Garfield op shop grant to purchase decodable readers and a Bunyip op shop grant to stock the community pantry. Parents and Friends also run the breakfast club, including all the ordering of food and look after both lost property and the 2nd hand uniforms. Coming up this term will be a silly sock drive, the Christmas raffle and a family sausage sizzle at the end of term. Thank you to this amazing team of parents. We appreciate your hard work and dedication to our school.

Fire Drill:

We do have a ‘Shelter In Place’ Drill planned but we have been waiting for a day when the majority of our students and staff are on site. Students will be coached through the fire drill via the PA system. The firs drill is planned for Friday the 3rd November at 3pm. If you feel your child may need additional support due to their first experience of a fire drill or sensory concerns, please let us know so we can discuss the best way to support your child with this important drill.

School Council:

We have a number of vacancies on School Council and are seeking interested parents who believe they can support the school by being a member of this important team. School Council has an important role in the development and implementation of school policies and procedures. If this work interest you or you would like more information, please contact me to discuss further.
