St Mary's House of Welcome visits
Our visits to St Mary's House of Welcome are finished for 2023. Throughout the year, Year 11 and 12 students volunteered to help make breakfast for the clients of Fitzroy.
St Mary's House of Welcome states that they are "a not-for-profit open access centre in the heart of Melbourne providing basic essential services to people who are homeless and experiencing poverty, severe and persistent mental health issues, and those who are extremely isolated and socially marginalised."
Students collaborated with staff and developed new skills in working with the community and the importance of service. These skills assist our students to break down the social barriers that exist for these clients.
We wanted to take the time to thank the many students and teachers who volunteered their time to visit St Mary's this year.
We will be running the program again in 2024 and are looking forward to more students joining us.
