Dear Members of the Academy Community,

The first stage of our facilities masterplan is the revitalisation of the undercroft area which will take place during the forthcoming school holidays.  It is hoped that staff and students will return to a totally revamped undercroft which will make it a warm, welcoming and colourful place for students at lunchtime.

One of the features of the undercroft will be the installation of a circular platform and data projector which can be used by staff and students alike for music events, presentations etc.  Exciting times ahead!

I take this opportunity to welcome to the College, Ms Nicole Sims, who has been appointed to the position of Director of Marketing and Communications. Ms Sims comes to us with a long history of marketing in the tertiary area.  Nicole Sims and Deni Hexter, our current marketing consultant, will work together in the marketing arena until the end of the year.

At the time of writing this newsletter, our Year 12 students are undertaking their final exams and I am pleased to say that all is going smoothly and students are coping well with this stressful period. In fact there are a lot of smiling faces both before and after their exams.  Let's hope that bodes well for their results! We look forward to formally farewelling our Year 12 students at the Graduation dinner scheduled to take place at San Remo Ballroom on Thursday 16 November 2023.

The cycle of life continues and we are looking forward to welcoming to the Academy our new Year 7s and their parents at the Year 7 Information Evening on 14 November.  We are eager to know our new parents and journey with them and their daughters over the next six years – the Year 7s of 2024 – the Year 12s of 2029.

This evening is only one component of our very extensive transition program for our future Year 7 students and their families.  Students will return to the College for the Year 7 Orientation Day on Tuesday 12 December to undertake various transition activities.  When they come back to school in for the beginning of the 2024 school year, there will be further transition activities which will culminate with the Year 7 Camp.

Every blessing,

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.   Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”  Philippians 2:3-4

We give you thanks, O God, for all the saints who ever worshipped you whether in brush arbours or cathedrals, weathered wooden churches or crumbling cement meeting houses Where your name was lifted and adored.

We give you thanks, O God, for hands lifted in praise: manicured hands and hands stained with grease or soil, strong hands and those gnarled with age holy hands used as wave offerings across the land.

We thank you, God, for hardworking saints; whether hard-hatted or steel-booted, head ragged or aproned, blue-collared or three-piece-suited they left their mark on the earth for you, for us, for our children to come.

Thank you, God, for the tremendous sacrifices made by those who have gone before us. Bless the memories of your saints, God. May we learn how to walk wisely from their examples of faith, dedication, worship, and love.

Amen

Remembrance Day

The Ode

They shall grow not old,

as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them,

nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun

and in the morning

We will remember them

Lest we forget
