Today the Art Academy had the pleasure of experiencing and viewing ACCA’s (Australian Centre for Contemporary Art) newest contemporary art collection by James Nguyen and other collaborators.
Titled Open Glossary, this interactive installation of multiple uniquely different rooms displayed the importance of language, identity, multiculturalism and expression. The first room exhibited a maze, constructed by hundreds upon hundreds of white collared shirts, whereas the next room showed the expression of identity through many different languages being included in a list. Another one of the rooms that was included was showcased very differently with simplistic colouring and shapes, yet with the same theme. The final room gave us the ability to put our artistic skills to use, using many different materials to create child-like imaginative art on the theme of connection to land, which was displayed in the room afterwards. Combining many different languages, cultures, opinions and messages, James Nguyen expressed how all are diverse, but together are one collective of society.
Overall, the Art Academy had a very enjoyable experience viewing and talking about the contemporary art shown in ACCA

From Nirvana in the Hall, Taylor Swift in the Drama Studio to Vivaldi in the Chapel – there was something for everyone to enjoy from these talented performers.
It was a wonderful night of musical entertainment, as performers, audience and supporters of the Instrumental program at the Academy came together.
I congratulate all students and the instrumental teaching staff, on their hard work and preparation for this event. And to our families that do so much to enrich their daughter's life with music.
