Free Info Sessions for aspiring Doctors – Pre Entrance Tests

MedEntry is running a free, interactive, online webinar for careers advisors, parents and students.  The session will cover pathways into medicine/dentistry, prerequisite subjects, how to prepare for UCAT & interviews (including free resources to pass onto students), and a Q&A session. 

The webinar will be run by Dr Ray Boyapati (Gastroenterologist at Monash Health and Director ofEducation at MedEntry). A similar session which was run last year was very well received by attendees. 

Date and Time: Monday 6th November 2023 from 7:30-8:30pm AEDT (Melbourne / Sydney time).

The GiST | Making a difference – Working in the clean energy sector

A third of Australia’s electricity already is generated by renewables. Over the next 30 years, new wind and solar farms, batteries, rooftop solar installations, and hydro projects will need to be built.  

This webinar will explore the working lives, school and career pathways of two young women who have opted to work in the clean energy sector. It is designed to give secondary students insights into careers in this sector and the opportunity to ask questions.

It Takes a Spark STEM Conference, Melbourne

Most conferences currently being offered on STEM, STEAM and Entrepreneurship tend to be targeted towards teachers and involve a series of speakers and the occasional mini-workshops. This conference is designed to be different. This conference is designed by students and teachers for students and teachers.

The intent of the It Takes a Spark STEM Conference is to bring together Students (Year 4 to 10) and Teachers to connect with inspiring industry role models, share their current school based activities and projects using an authentic sharing and experiential model, create networks of teachers and student teams, and solve social justice design challenges.

First Pitch Competition

First Pitch calls on budding young entrepreneurs aged up to 18 to enter their best business pitch for the chance to win great prizes.

You can submit a 3-minute pitch on a business innovation or idea that can make a difference in your community and Australia wide. Your pitch will be judged by a local panel of entrepreneurs and business professionals, and the state winners get to participate in the national championship.

Westpac Youth Impact Challenge

The Westpac Youth Impact Challenge is a nationwide initiative open to all young people around Australia aged 7 to 21 years. The Challenge aims to help young Australians solve problems in their local communities.

To take part in the Challenge, participants must identify a local problem and brainstorm an innovative business or social change idea to solve it. Participants can choose to work individually, or in a group of up to 3.

All participants who complete the Challenge will receive a Certificate of Completion. Winners will receive an Exclusive Prize Pack which will include a Microsoft Surface laptop from our partner Microsoft, The Academy Membership, a Spill the Beans Pitch Opportunity, financial education mentoring support for your business idea from Westpac’s Davidson Institute and a pitch opportunity at the final Challenge event.

This year’s challenge launches Monday 13 November.

Anthology Magazine Short Story Competition 2024

Writers of short fiction are invited to enter the Anthology Magazine Short Story Competition.

Established to recognise and encourage creative writing and provide a platform for publication, it is open to original and previously unpublished short stories in the English language by a writer of any nationality, living anywhere in the world.  There is no restriction on theme or style. Stories submitted must not exceed the maximum of 1,500 words. Writers can submit as many entries as they wish.

Winners will receive a $1,000 cash prize and the chance to see their work published in a future issue of Anthology. The winner will also receive a one year subscription to Anthology Magazine.

Entries are open until 31 July 2024.
