New Community Mentors

We are thrilled to share the positive impact our new community mentors have had on our school. Since joining our community, these dedicated individuals have made remarkable strides in fostering a supportive and engaging environment for our students.
Positive Changes Within Our School
One of the most significant improvements we have observed is a noticeable reduction in the number of students being truant and spending time in the courtyard during class hours. Thanks to the community mentors' consistent presence, guidance, and encouragement, students are more engaged and motivated to stay in class, resulting in better attendance and participation. Their approachable nature has built trust among students, making them feel heard, valued, and supported.
Supporting Across Departments
Our community mentors have gone beyond by extending their assistance across various school departments. From attending classes to support disengaged students, to assisting sub-schools with daily operations, their versatility and willingness to help have not gone unnoticed. Their involvement has contributed significantly to creating an inclusive learning atmosphere where all students can thrive.
Additionally, our mentors have taken on crucial responsibilities such as managing student uniform orders, ensuring that students have access to what they need to feel confident and prepared for school. Their dedication to these essential tasks has lightened the workload for our staff and strengthened our sense of community.
What Staff Have to Say
“We’ve been able to use the mentors to make connections with students that we as teachers wouldn't have been able to make & have a key checkpoint for some of the kids “ ―Madalin Coghlan, Head of Year 7
“I can definitely see changes in truancy since having the mentors onboard, we are seeing more phones handed over” ―Vikki Garnier, Senior Sub-school
“I haven't had direct contact with the mentors yet, however all I’m hearing from other people is positive feedback about how proactive, helpful, and friendly they are and overall, how valuable they’ve been to the college” ―Sarah Morrissey, Interventions Leader
“I have had a good run with the community mentors already and its only week 4 ― I can see the leadership qualities in each of them where they are able to lead each other when given tasks and are capable of clearly relaying information to one another. ― They are trusted to get the work done and that is what is important to us” ―Meri Kimova, Data & Testing Leader
