School Council Elections
Just a reminder that nominations for School Council close tomorrow. If you are interested in helping the school, this is one way you could participate. Please see Mrs. Mifsud at the office if you need more information.
School Picnic – Friday 7th March
I am so excited to see everyone next week for our whole school picnic. This is a great opportunity for you to meet staff informally and spend time with your child/ren and meeting other parents.
Our before and after school provider, Kelly Club will be teaming up with Kelly Sports to provide a variety of sports and activities during the picnic. If you have not yet signed up for Kelly Club, you can do this on the day.
Don’t forget to bring your blanket or a chair to sit on and some yummy food for your picnic.
Update re unwanted adult around the school
We continue to see this adult intermittently around the streets near the school, but we have had not had any issues with him. He was passing by either first thing in the morning or at home time. He has not been an issue to the school during the school day and students are safe.
I have spoken to a few parents who have come across him at times. The advice is that if you have concerns, ring 000. Police have driven by the area regularly.
NAPLAN
We are starting to plan for the implementation of the nation-wide testing in English and Mathematics (NAPLAN). Only the Year 3 and 5 students participate in NAPLAN towards the end of March. Mr. Fielding is coordinating this process, and he will provide information to parents. If you have any questions, please speak with the classroom teacher as soon as possible.
Uniform Shop
Please note that the uniform shop will be closed the 3rd of March for stock take. Thank you for ensuring that your children are wearing only the uniform items and not introducing other colours.
Victorian Principals Association
This year, I am once again on the Victorian Principals Association State Council. This is a fantastic team of principals from across Victoria who work together for the benefit of our public education system. On Thursday and Friday of this week, I will be attending the State Council planning conference to identify our priorities for this year. I look forward to sharing some information with you next week.
Annual privacy reminder for our school community
Our school collects and uses student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ Privacy Policy and the Schools’ Privacy Collection Notice.
Our Photographing, Filming and Recording Students Policy describes how we collect and use photographs, video and recordings of students. The policy also explains when parent consent is required and how it can be provided and withdrawn.
We ask parents to also review the guidance we provide on how we use Google Workspace for Education safely at the school and what parents can do to further protect their child’s information. If after reviewing the guidance, you have any questions or concerns regarding your child using this please contact the school.
For more information about privacy, refer to: Schools’ privacy policy: information for parents. This information is also available in ten community languages:
