Principal's Report

Welcome to the new school year at Windsor Primary. I do hope that everyone had an enjoyable summer break; it has been wonderful to hear what the students did during their holidays and some of the amazing places they went to.
A big welcome to our 2025 Prep students and their families. The students have transitioned into their first term of school very well. A big thank you to everyone involved. Another big welcome is to our new families in other year levels as well and in particular to our international families who have the opportunity to experience everything that is wonderful about Windsor Primary – this term we have visiting students from China, South Korea and Mexico. We look forward to getting to know you and ensuring that you have a wonderful time.
It has been a smooth start to our year and a lot of that is to do with the effort that the staff have put into planning and implementing a program that equally focuses on the students knowing that they have a place here at Windsor where they belong and an environment where they can individually and collectively thrive, but also the clear expectations on them as individuals and collective.
We are looking forward to the year and it has been a very good start.
Over the break more grounds work was completed. The landscaping took another step forward with the shed being moved, The Avenue central gates modified and the continual greening of our laneway and deck areas. Good news from January last year was that the Building Authority were looking at a commencement date for the play space at The Avenue end of the school, unfortunately this was ridiculously slow and bureaucratic. The good news is that this year, they will simply be providing us with a cash grant and we will self-manage the project. I look forward to providing more positive and frequent updates this year and any community members interested in joining Buildings and Grounds to support this project are warmly welcome. Unfortunately, we did suffer significant water damage through storm water rising above the bottom of the staff room door and (ironically) a couple of days later, a broken mains pipe in the laneway. The cost of recovery and repair for these two events was over $5000.
Once again, welcome back and hoping all the best for everyone in 2025.
It is this time of year that the Department of Education (DOE) asks schools to remind families of the Schools Privacy & Information Sharing policy and the Photographing, Filming and Recording Students policy.
The school collects and uses student and parent personal information for stand school functions or where permitted by law as stated in the policy. We also collect and use photographs, video and recordings of students. The policy explains how these are used and explains when parent consent is required and how it can be provided and withdrawn.
This is one example of the policies that the school must make available to parents and carers. The platform that we use to share these policies is the school website. Below is a link to the policy page of our website where all community shared policies are available.
