Grevillea House

The Grevillea House Leadership Team would like to welcome back all students and families to the 2025 schooling year. We trust you had a wonderful and restful break.

Grevilleans Thriving at the beginning of 2025

We started the year with a bang having our Year 7s and 12s attending their various excursions for the beginning of the year!

Melbourne Cable Park - Year 12s

Our Year 12s had a fantastic time at the Melbourne Cable Park. The Grevillea students who attended were treated to fantastic weather, a water obstacle course, as well as a challenging high ropes course that tested our students' resilience the higher they climbed. It was a fantastic and enjoyable way to begin their academic year. We are wishing our Year 12s all the success as they begin their journey of the final year of school! The Grevillea House is behind you and can’t wait to see your efforts pay off at the end of the school year!

Lysterfield Lake – Year 7s

From the students who are beginning their final year of school to the students who are just beginning their high school journey. Our 7s have begun their schooling year extremely positively and from the House Leadership perspective are settling in well to high school life. Year 7 Transition Program finished off with a trip to Lysterfield Lake. This excursion gave our newest members the ability to continue to build those connections that they had begun to foster from Orientation Day in 2024 and through the transition week. It also gave the 7s an opportunity to continue to build connections with students in other Houses. The 7s had a fantastic day and by all reports were able to build or strengthen bonds made.

We welcome our Year 7s to the Grevillea learning community and want to highlight that the House is here to support them along their journey through Dandenong High School and Grevillea House.

Building on our community

During our Welcome Week for the 7s we were lucky enough to have our exiting 12s meet with our newest members in Year 7. The two groups met at the end of the day and ran through activities with the House Leadership Team. The purpose was to build connection with the youngest and oldest members of our community. We promote our senior students as mentors and leaders and this session provided an opportunity to have them impact the 7s in a positive way.  The session also gave our Year 7s the opportunity to ask questions of our Year 12s about what school was like for them, helpful tips and tricks to get through their classes and settle into high school life!

A great session by all. It was great to see our 7s interacting with the 12s in a positive way and asking some great questions to help them settle into Grevillea and high school life.
