Welcome Mel Foster
Hello and welcome back to another school year,
I would firstly like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Mel Foster and I am the new Wellbeing and Engagement Assistant Principal in the Junior school. Thank you so much to everyone in the community that have made me feel so welcome in my first week at the college. A little bit about me: I have spent my career in Melbourne teaching across both the primary and secondary sectors. I am passionate about all children having access to quality education and working closely with families to achieve the best for each student in my care.
Outside of school I love AFL (go Bombers), spending time with my children and taking my dog Bruce on long walks.
If there is anything you ever need, or you would just like to pop in for a chat, my door is always open. I look forward to meeting everyone as the year goes on.
Off to a Great Start in Primary
We would like to welcome all our new students and their families to Seymour College. We have started 2025 with over 240 children – who are busy settling into their new classrooms, learning the routines and expectations in their new year levels and are happily making new friends. Our current focus is on ensuring our learning spaces are calm and orderly so that children can engage with their learning tasks.
Continuous Reporting in Primary
This year the Primary sector will be changing our reporting system and will be informing families of their child’s progress in a more regular way. Teachers will be providing feedback on your child’s progress through Compass. If you require support to access Compass please contact the general office. Further information will be provided in the coming weeks.

Years 3 - 12 Swimming Carnival
Our Swimming Carnival will be held on Friday 14th February.
Parents can consent online through Compass. If you do not consent, students will remain at school.
Students can wear their ‘House’ colours to support this event, and they will compete in several swimming races to progress to district swimming.
Other activities will be organised for the non-serious swimmers.
