Year 5 & 6

Around our level

Welcome to an exciting new year in Year 5/6! We are thrilled to have our students and families join us for a year filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences. We look forward to creating a positive and supportive environment where every student feels valued. We can’t wait to share this fantastic year with you all!

The excitement was contagious as our Year 6 students proudly received their bomber jackets, marking their final year of primary school with a sense of achievement and unity.

Meanwhile, our Year 5 students were thrilled to finally have their turn in the ga-ga pit, bringing energy and enthusiasm to every game. In our level meeting, students engaged in valuable discussions about the protocols for working cooperatively in the BER, reinforcing the importance of teamwork and respect in a shared learning space.

We also took time to reflect on the significance of routines and our school values, Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Respectful, helping to create a positive and supportive environment for everyone.

Students in Year 5 & 6 are encouraged to embrace ‘student voice’ and feel confident contributing to their learning environment. Whether through class discussions, student leadership roles, or collaborative decision-making, students are encouraged to share their ideas and take ownership of their education.

The ‘clock partner’ activity has commenced, which is a classroom strategy used to pair students for discussions, activities, or collaborative work in a structured and engaging way. It helps ensure that students interact with different peers throughout a lesson.

Students are looking forward to new learning opportunities, exciting challenges, and making great memories with their friends.

Achala S

I am looking forward to being a vice-captain because being a captain is a huge deal to me, and I finally have a chance to run parts of the school assembly and organise it as well. I can't wait to get my badge because that also means a great deal to me. I always used to look up to the captains when I was little and I am so grateful that I finally have a chance to be that person the juniors look up to, and to represent my school. So I definitely can't wait!

I am looking forward to getting up at assemblies and talking (since I am a captain)

I can't wait to go to MSAC at the end of the year and also go to graduation. I am going to Somers camp with some of my friends and I will enjoy what they have to offer. It will be my last colour run with my friends so that will be exciting!

I am really enjoying being back at school with my friends. It is so cool being in Year Six and I really like the bomber jackets this year. The people that made them did an awesome job. We have had lots of fun activities to do and I am looking forward to getting my house captain badge. I can't wait to see what else is coming up this year. I am really excited!
