Year 1 & 2

Around our level

Literacy

In reading lessons, students listen to, predict what they think might happen, and discuss the messages in picture storybooks. We have read books about dinosaurs and Chinese New Year, both fiction and non-fiction. We have discussed how the badly behaved dinosaur should have behaved at school and linked that in with expectations in the classroom. Students have written responses to the books read and completed colouring and craft activities. They have also planned and written holiday recounts. They have been working hard to write on the lines in their new workbooks.

Maths

Our Maths topic of Data and Graphs has allowed our students to learn information about each other through asking questions. We have discussed our favourite pizza topping, favourite ice cream, and what pets we have. We are learning about tally marks and how to represent data using graphs and tables.

Integrated Studies

In Integrated Studies we have been learning about what History and Geography are. We have decorated the cover for our activity book.

Wellbeing

In Wellbeing, we have focused on our school values of Respect, Kindness, and Safety. Students have learned and shared ways to show these values while we are at school. This week we will be doing ‘bucket filling’ to acknowledge all the ways that we are being kind, respectful, and safe.
