Senior School

5/6 JDZ & 5/6 BW

WHAT'S ON

Welcome to a new school year! We've had a very settled return and our students in 5/6 have adjusted well to the expectations that have been set for them in both classrooms!

Lots of exciting things have already happened; the election of House Captains, State School Spectacular auditions, Interschool Sports, SRC nominations and Golf Clinics!

In our learning, we kicked off the year with a lot of pre-testing and have now started getting our teeth into some interesting units of work across all subjects!

IN OUR LEARNING

Here's a little recap of what we've been covering in the classroom:

Reading: Our focus text is 'Holes' - We have explored character development, themes, predictions and language.

Writing: Narratives - We have followed the process, considering all features of the text genre to inform planning ideas, creating hooks, developing and expanding ideas, editing for punctuation, grammar and spelling.

Maths: Recognising number properties such as odd/even, prime/composite and factors. We have also explored the use of column strategies to solve addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Humanities: Our topic for Humanities this term is History. Our focus for this is Australian History and the migration of people to Australia.

HOUSE CAPTAINS

Congratulations to our students who have been elected as House Captains for 2025! Looking forward to watching them develop as school leaders this year!

McMullen - Alethia & Catalina

Hicks - Taylor & Ryder

Lecky - Sara & Patrick

Starling - Macey & Harper

GOLF CLINICS

We have been very fortunate to welcome Paul back to our school for Golf Clinics! Students have been working hard on their 'swing' and have been enjoying the opportunity to hone their golf skills!
