Wellbeing Hour
Every Friday the students take part in our dedicated 'Wellbeing Hour' which focuses on the following Social and Emotional Learning areas-
Self Awareness
- to develop a healthy sense of who you are, and better understand your thoughts and feelings
Self Management
- to manage your thoughts, feelings and actions towards goals
Social Awareness
- to better understand different views and have empathy for others
Relationship Skills
- to communicate and connect, problem solve together, and stand up for others
Responsible Decision Making
- to make constructive choices, analyze our actions, and find solutions
Each week we incorporate lessons from The Resilience Project as well as the Respectful Relationships program, and throughout the year other days such as Harmony Day, Bully No Way Day and others are also a focus.
Last Friday we launched Wellbeing Hour by taking the children through a 'child friendly' presentation of our school Child Safe Policy.
The main points shared with the children were-
- we have a Child Safe Policy so that everyone is respected and feels safe
- It is important that we are listened to and have an opportunity to share our thoughts and opinions
- Our school is responsible for our care, safety and wellbeing
- The purpose of this policy is to make sure that all students feel comfortable with the people around them
- Our teachers care about us and also make sure that we feel safe when we are at school, excursions and on camps.
