Parents play a crucial role in fostering a positive attitude toward education by prioritising punctuality, regular attendance, and engagement in their child’s learning journey.

REGULAR ATTENDANCE: 90% or more of possible school days.

Please ensure if your child is absent that you 'add an attendance note' via Compass within 3 days of the absence. If, after 7 days, the absence remains 'unexplained' you will be unable to change this at it will remain as unexplained.

Please note that our office staff are not able to verbally accept a reason of absence. Attendance is a legal matter and therefore needs to be entered by the parent/carer.

When your child's attendance falls below 90% you will receive and email to alert you to the fact that attendance at school is a legal requirement of the parent/guardian and beneficial to the social and academic needs of your child.

If attendance continues to drop further, the school will be in contact you regarding an 'Attendance Improvement Plan'. The aim of this plan is for the school and family to work together to to ensure your child has appropriate supports and strategies in place for them to access education.

If your child has difficulty transitioning to school we are here to help. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need any support in ensuring your child's regular attendance at school

Thank you Parents!

I appreciate all of the parents who promptly actioned their child's unexplained absence as soon as requested this week. I cannot express how much I appreciate this! Chasing up unexplained absences takes a lot of admin time, that if we can elliminate, frees up time for other important tasks. Thank you- our numbers went from 128 unexplained absenced to 18 within moments of our email being sent out.

As this is one of our most pressing obligations we sincerely appreciate your assistance and cooperation.

CURRICULUM

Each year, the students at Catherine McAuley will be taught subjects from syllabuses developed by the NSW Education Standards Authority. NSW syllabuses provide an outline of the requirements for teaching and learning in various subjects for stages of students’ learning. They also contain the outcomes and content which are intended to be inclusive of the learning needs of all students, including:

  • Aboriginal students
  • students with disability
  • high potential and gifted education
  • students learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D).

Our teaching and learning programs are designed with the needs of your child at the core. Programs are adapted to cater for the needs of each student in the class. Our teachers use a range of high-quality resources to deliver the teaching and learning.

At McAuley, we value the important role our parents and carers have in the educational journey of our students. Please contact the school should you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s specific learning needs.

Dear Parents/Carer's,

Please find attached a survey from Leanne Bovington, CEDB Aboriginal Cultural Liason Officer.

Yiradhu Marang (G'day)

Tell us about your experiences as a Catholic school parent and what you'd like to know more about

We value every parent's thoughts and opinions!

CCSP would like to know how involved/engaged you feel you are in your child's learning at a NSW/ACT Catholic school, how connected you feel in your child's school, and your thoughts on how schools could enhance family-school partnerships.

This data informs our parent learning program and provides us with valuable information about how our dioceses and schools are engaging with families.

Thank you so much for taking time out to give us your feedback.
