Secondary Music Ensembles – Auditions

Please see below for details of auditions for the College’s Secondary Music Ensembles:

Wind, Concert and Swing Band Auditions

• Who: Years 7 – 12 students learning flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, bass guitar, saxophone or percussion/drums.
• When: Tuesday 18 February, Performing Arts Centre from 7:00am
• Process: Sign up outside the Music Office, bring your instrument and play a piece from 2024.

Chamber Orchestra

• Who: Years 7 – 12 students who learn violin, viola, cello or double bass.
• When: Wednesday 19 February, Osborne Room from 7:00am
• Process: Sign up inside the Music Office and collect a short excerpt to practice and play in the audition.

Junior Electric Guitar Ensemble

All students in Years 7 – 9 who take weekly lessons on electric guitar, with a minimum of one year’s playing experience, are invited to join our new Junior Electric Guitar Ensemble! To express interest in joining, please contact the Music Department.

Chapel Choir

Chapel Choir is open to all Years 1 - 12 students who love singing, with a focus on liturgical music. Rehearsals commence at 7:30am in the Chapel with Mrs Haydon and Mr Johnston on Fridays. Chapel Choir then sings at Community Mass (commencing at 8:00am). Secondary students who sing in the choir may include this time in their Roncalli Service hours. The next Chapel Choir rehearsal and Community Mass is in Week 3 on Friday 21 February. Please contact Ms Haydon (Catherine.Haydon@johnxxiii.edu.au) for more information.

Withdrawal from Music Lessons

Please note that withdrawals from lessons for Semester 1 have closed.

Withdrawals from Semester 2 must be submitted by Friday 13 June at 4:00pm.
