Year 3 - Middle Unit

This week in Year 3, students have been learning about the amazing Megafauna that roamed Australia thousands of years ago. They have begun to create fact files on a given animal, which is part of our larger Unit on ‘Change’ which focuses on the ever-changing Australian landscape.
In Literacy, students have continued to study persuasive techniques authors use to convince their readers of a certain viewpoint. This study will culminate in the students writing their own persuasive piece about a change they would like to see in their home, school or Woodend community.
In Numeracy, students have begun a unit on Money. This unit will focus primarily on what denominations of coins Australia has ie 5c, 10, 50c etc., collections of coins and notes to make a given amount, as well as the calculation of change. This unit builds on their previous studies of place value and our number system.
Camp costings are being finalised, and further information will be coming out shortly. Just a reminder that Year 3 camp will be held from Monday the 19th of May – Wednesday the 21st of May.
