Principal's Report

Dear Parents and families,

Emma Tuck

We are sad to say goodbye to Emma Tuck, who will be leaving us to take on a full-time position in Accounts at Willowbank Primary School.

Emma has been a valued and much-loved member of our school community for six and a half years. Her welcoming demeanour has been a real asset to our school, and her willingness to help have been greatly appreciated by parents, carers, staff and students.

Emma’s caring nature has made a real difference in the lives of our students, always ensuring their needs were met with kindness.

We thank Emma for all she has contributed to Macedon Primary School and wish her all the best in achieving her goal of trying to become a Business Manager. Willowbank PS is lucky to have her!

Introducing Our New School Values

We are excited to announce that our school values have been selected!

A huge thank you to all the families who took the time to share their thoughts—your incredible response helped shape the values that will guide our school community. After thoughtful input from parents, students, and staff, our three core values are:

Respect – Fostering a culture of care and responsibility towards others, ourselves, and our environment. Kindness – Encouraging empathy, compassion, and positive relationships within our school community. Resilience – Developing the ability to overcome challenges, embrace learning, and persist through difficulties.

As part of our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework, we will begin exploring what these values look like in action across our school. We look forward to embedding them into our daily learning, interactions, and culture.

Thank you again for your support in shaping a positive and inclusive school environment!

School Review

We are about to begin our school review process, an important opportunity to reflect on our progress and plan for the future. As part of this process, we would love to hear from our parent community.

We are inviting parents to participate in a small group session where you will have the chance to speak with panel members about your experiences at Macedon Primary School. This session will take place on Tuesday, 20th February, during the school day.

If you are available and would like to be involved, please contact me (andrew.bloomfield@education.vic.gov.au)l. Your input is highly valued, and we appreciate your support in shaping the future of our school.

150 Year Celebration Fete

Celebrating 150 Years of Macedon Primary School!

This year, we are thrilled to be celebrating 150 years of Macedon Primary School—an incredible milestone in our school's history! To mark this special occasion, we will be holding a 150th Anniversary Fete on Saturday, 15th November.

A huge event like this takes a great deal of planning, and we need plenty of support to make it a success. The School Council has established a Fete Sub-Committee, led by Kate Medhurst, to coordinate the event.

We would love your help! Whether you can contribute your time to assist with planning, have ideas for activities and stalls, or can donate goods or services, we would be delighted to hear from you. Your support is vital in making this a fantastic celebration for our school and community.

If you are able to help in any way, please contact me directly (andrew.bloomfield@education.vic.gov.au) by Friday the 21st of February. Let’s work together to create an unforgettable event to celebrate 150 years of Macedon Primary School!

Swimming Sports 3-6

Our House Swimming Sports for students in Grades 3-6 will be held on Friday, 14th February, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Gisborne Aquatic Centre.

A big thank you to David Oxworth, who has organised an exciting event. Our students are looking forward to representing their house and giving it their best in the pool!

Students are welcome to wear their house colours on the day to show their team spirit.

Parents and families are welcome to attend, and we would love to see you there, cheering on our swimmers. We look forward to a fantastic afternoon of fun, teamwork, and house spirit!

Extreme Fire Rating Relocation

We want to inform you that an Extreme Fire Danger Day may be declared in the Macedon Ranges on Thursday. With the numbers released today, Macedon Primary School will likely need to relocate to Sunbury Heights Primary School as part of our emergency management plan. This relocation will not be confirmed until after school today. If the relocation is confirmed you will receive a SMS asking you to confirm your child’s attendance tomorrow. We ask that you reply to this SMS as soon as possible.

Please note. If a relocation day is declared there will be no OSHC (Out of School Care) operating. Students will need to be picked up from Sunbury Heights PS at 3:00 pm.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in ensuring the safety of our school community.

We are looking for Parent and Friends members

Our Parents and Friends Association (PFA) is looking for new members to join their team!

The PFA is made up of dedicated parents and friends, just like you, who generously volunteer their time and skills to enhance the experience of our wonderful school. They organise a range of fun social and fundraising events designed to support the wellbeing of our students, their families, and the wider community.

Getting involved with the PFA is a fantastic way for parents and carers to connect, contribute to the school, and make a meaningful impact. Whether you have new ideas, a little time to spare, or a passion for supporting our school, we would love to have you on board!

We warmly invite all parents, carers, and friends with a connection to Macedon Primary to join our PFA.

We look forward to welcoming you!
