At Clayfield, we’re guided by our core values of care, integrity, resilience, and respect. As a community, we take pride in these principles and their importance in shaping our environment here at school. Reminders of these values are displayed throughout our school both in classrooms and posters around the campus. As we begin this new year, we encourage everyone to reflect on how their actions align with these values, whether a simple ‘Thank you’ or ‘I appreciate your time’. We look forward to seeing how our community will continue to embody these principles throughout 2025.
Another key part of our community life is serving others, as it offers invaluable life skills such as initiative, compassion, and sociability. Volunteering, while beneficial for us, also provides crucial support and empowerment to those facing hardships, positively impacting their lives. Starting on the 26 February, Years 10 and 11 students can volunteer at ‘Community 4 Compassion’ every Wednesday after school, assisting with meal preparation. If you’re interested in participating, please get in touch with Ms Gibson via mgibson@clayfield.qld.edu.au to sign up. We’re also excited to announce that more volunteering opportunities for other year levels will be available later this term.
We're thrilled to continue our ISCF Program this year, which offers students in Years 7 to 12 a wonderful opportunity to deepen their understanding of God through interactive activities, discussions, and games. We meet every Monday during lunchtime in Room 19, and everyone is welcome to join in the fun. Our ISCF leader for 2025 is Emily McAra. She is always available to answer any of your ISCF-related questions, alongside Rev, and is always a friendly face around the school.
We’re particularly excited about our combined social events with Somerville House and Brisbane Boys' College once a term. Our first social is scheduled for 22 February (Week 4) and is open to anyone in Years 7 to 12. It will include transport to Somerville House for a brief Chapel service, followed by dinner and an exciting evening at Boondall Ice-Rink. It’s a fantastic chance to meet new people and create lasting memories. If you’re interested in ISCF socials or have any questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to email or chat with Rev, Emily, or either of us, Sophie and Caitlin.
Our goals this year are...
“By the end of this year, my goal is to not be known just as the Chapel Captain or as Sophie, but to be known as the girl who smiles at you on your way to class, the girl who offers you a kind word, and the girl who would help you if you were in a spot of trouble.
I would love for my position to give me just that extra boost of confidence and truly embody the core values of the College and spread their influence. My goal for this year is to spread knowledge, spiritual connection, and joy.”
– Sophie
“By the end of this year, my goal is to be an encouraging and supportive presence to foster a strong sense of community within Clayfield. I want to approach every opportunity, event, and experience, no matter the size, with passion and commitment.
My hope is that this year will also help me become more confident and courageous. As Matthew 5:16 says, ‘let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works...’
This year, I aspire to let my light shine in all aspects of the College, embodying both our and God’s values, spreading connection, and supporting everyone to let their light shine.”
