Connected
As part of the AngliSchools Vision for Learning, this week we highlight the learner attribute Connected. Connected learners are inspired to take an active role as global citizens. They recognise that their learning has meaning beyond the classroom and that they are part of a wider community - locally and globally.
At our College, this sense of connection is intentionally nurtured through the life of the Junior School. Students are supported to build relationships, develop empathy, and understand their impact on others through a range of embedded practices. These include pastoral care and mentoring programs, Morning Circle, and opportunities for connection through assemblies, chapel and student awards.
Connection is also strengthened through co‑curricular programs, camps and excursions, and whole‑school events such as French Day and Multicultural Day, which celebrate diversity and broaden students’ understanding of the world around them. A shared language across classrooms and clear expectations help students feel safe, known and supported, while strong leadership ensures these practices are consistent and meaningful.
In action, connected learners:
understand that their voice can have an impact.
Questions to explore at home:
How can we use our voice to make a positive difference?
By nurturing connection, we help students develop a sense of belonging, responsibility and purpose - preparing them to engage thoughtfully with the world around them.
Thank you to the many parents and carers who took the time to provide thoughtful and constructive feedback following our recent Student Progress Meetings. Your insights are greatly valued and play an important role in supporting our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.
We are pleased to see strong affirmation of the quality of conversations between teachers and families, with many parents highlighting the care, preparation and clarity provided by staff. The flexibility of online and hybrid meeting options was also widely appreciated, alongside the efficient structure that allowed families to meet with multiple teachers.
We acknowledge, however, that feedback also identified several areas for improvement - particularly around timing during the school day, the impact on student learning time, and the length and scheduling of meetings. These are important considerations, and we are carefully reviewing this feedback as we plan future arrangements.
Junior School parents will be provided the opportunity to share their feedback following the Semester 2 Student Progress Meetings, and we thank you for your ongoing partnership in your child’s learning journey. Your voice plays an important role in shaping how we strengthen communication, accessibility and the overall experience for our school community. With this in mind, I can confirm that the Term 4 Year 7–10 Student Progress Meetings will take place on Monday 12 October, from approximately 10:30am to 6:30pm.
