This weekend Tai Mc, Hunter Mc, Edith B, Amira M, Grace T, Nikulus F and Nikolai F will make the sacraments of first communion and confirmation. We keep them in our prayers as they make this significant step in their faith journey.
If any parent would like their child baptised at the St Peter's Feast Mass please let Mr Wilkinson or the office know.
On the evening of that first day of the week, the disciples were gathered together behind locked doors because they were afraid. Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” After saying this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy when they saw the Lord.
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father sent me, so I am sending you.” Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive people’s sins, they are forgiven; if you hold them bound, they are held bound.”
Summary
In this Gospel, the disciples are frightened, confused, and hiding behind locked doors after the death of Jesus. Even in their fear, Jesus comes to them bringing peace, hope, and reassurance. He does not leave them alone in their uncertainty. Instead, He gives them the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit gave the disciples courage, wisdom, and strength to continue the mission of Jesus. Through the Holy Spirit, they were able to move beyond fear and become people who spread love, forgiveness, healing, and peace to others.
Today, the Holy Spirit continues to work in our lives. The Spirit helps us when we feel worried, overwhelmed, or unsure of what to do. The Holy Spirit guides us to make loving choices, forgive others, speak kindly, and stand up for what is right. Just as the disciples were sent out to share God’s love, we too are called to bring peace, compassion, and hope into our families, schools, workplaces, and communities.
