Celebrating Indigenous Student Leadership & Culture in 2026
As part of our ongoing commitment to celebrating and deepening understanding of Indigenous culture, students across the College will be engaging in learning and reflection in preparation for Reconciliation and NAIDOC Week from now until the end of the term. Through classroom activities, discussions, and cultural experiences, students will be exploring the importance of truth-telling, respect, and walking together in reconciliation.
We are also excited to continue working towards the launch of the St Luke’s School Totem, a meaningful initiative led alongside our Indigenous students and community partners. This project aims to strengthen cultural identity and connection within our College, while creating a lasting symbol of belonging, story, and shared journey for all students.
Faith and Formation
Liturgy
Mother’s Day Liturgy
In Week 3, the School of Foundations and School of Leadership celebrated a beautiful Mother’s Day Liturgy with mothers and mother figures from our community. Led by Father Gayan, the liturgy was a special occasion for students and families to come together in prayer and reflection as we gave thanks for the love, care and support that mothers and mother figures provide each day.
Pentecost Liturgy
In Week 5, students commemorated Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit during our Friday liturgies. Students reflected on the gifts and fruits of the Spirit and considered how these can guide and support them in their everyday lives. It was a meaningful celebration that encouraged students to live with kindness, wisdom, courage and love in all that they do.
Parish Mass
Students across the College will continue to attend the Thursday 9:00 am Mass in the church. Families are warmly invited to join us as we gather in prayer and celebration.
Liturgical Music
St Luke’s SOL/E choir recently led music for our School of Foundations and School of Leadership Mother’s Day Liturgy. Thank you for the hard work and practice you have shown over the past Term. The choir also performed for our Pentecost Liturgies.
We thank the choir for their dedication and musicality that they bring to St Luke’s Catholic College.
St Luke’s is beginning an audition process for students who are interested in collaborating in a Liturgical Ensemble. If you play an instrument and would like more performance opportunities, this band is for you!
The ensemble is primarily built on providing music for liturgies. Other opportunities for performance include, Open Mic Friday performances, Open Nights and possibly outside school events.
If you are interested please complete the form here or as communicated on compass. Rehearsal will take place after school on Tuesday from 2:45-3:45 with the possibility of some recess and lunch times rehearsals, which will be communicated with the members of the ensemble.
If you have any questions please email Mr Tromp (mtromp2@parra.catholic.edu.au)
Faith In Action
Music Therapy
In Week 5, students attending Music Therapy at the local Marsden Park Community Care Centre participated in a special mid-year concert for residents and visitors, showcasing what they have been learning during their fortnightly sessions. Students enjoyed sharing their talents and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to connect with residents through music and conversation. They are now looking forward to learning new songs in preparation for the community concert later in the year.
Vinnies Sandwiches
Students, across years 7-12 have come together to prepare sandwiches for Vinnies, showing a strong commitment to service and solidarity. This ongoing initiative reflects the Catholic Social Teachings of the Dignity of the Human Person, the Preferential Option for the Poor, and the Common Good, as students respond to the needs of those experiencing hardship. Each time they participate, students demonstrate compassion, teamwork and a lived expression of faith through practical care for others.
Mini Vinnies
During Week 5, Mini Vinnies students from K–6 collaborated with our Year 12 leaders during lunchtime to prepare snack packs for Vinnies. It was a wonderful display of service and compassion in action as they supported those in need within our wider community. This initiative was a practical expression of the Catholic Social Teachings, specifically the Dignity of the Human Person, the Preferential Option for the Poor, and the Common Good. Their commitment to promoting care, respect, and solidarity, expressed through their meaningful contributions, is a true reflection of our college spirit.
Month of May - Rosary
Across K–12, students have been coming together at lunchtime each day throughout May to pray a decade of the Rosary and reflect on the mysteries, in honour of our Blessed Mother Mary. This prayerful initiative has provided a peaceful time for meditation, reflection and unity, as students deepen their faith and devotion during the month dedicated to Mary.
