Garden

What is happening in our garden?

Students have done a great job planting our warm season vegetables. We now have tomatoes, zucchinis, cucumbers, capsicums and basil seedlings in our garden beds. Luckily, the weather is helping with cooler temperatures and lots of rain so plants can establish their roots before the summer.

We have harvested most of our cool weather vegetables and are turning them into delicious meals. Grades 3/4s and 5/6s have enjoyed eating pesto pasta we made with preps and 1/2s are eating this week.

Our Winter pesto was made from wild rocket, spinach and parsley we grew. We substituted toasted sunflowers for nuts and omitted parmesan cheese so students with allergies are included. We also added the last broccoli and snow peas to the pasta. Everything was polished up in no time! Who said children aren't eating their greens?
