Advent Approaches

We have a few important things to discuss in this section of the newsletter today, especially involving our community and the approach to the end of of the school year and what this entails.

Gold Coin Donations

As you now will have read from Mrs Carlei's email, Tymofii in Year Four is being treated for Leukaemia. We miss having him in our classroom terribly but understand he is receiving the best care he possibly can. We keep he and his entire family in our thoughts and prayers at this extremely challenging time.

On Thursday the 30th of November, this upcoming Thursday, we would ask that all families who are able please send students to school with a gold coin donation.

We know this is only one of many ways that we will support Tymofii's family, but this initial donation can then be used to give to the family. Importantly, something that has been raised is Tym's love of Lego! So a portion of all money raised will be spent on a Lego kit to help encourage and entertain Tym while he spends time at home. As Mrs Carlei flagged, should you have any questions or things to share in regard to Tym, please contact her directly: mcarlei@santglen.catholic.edu.au.

St Anthony's Christmas Appeal

We adore Christmas, but also understand this can be a trying time for some people and families. As we normally do as a school community, we will take part in a Christmas Appeal. This year, in conjunction with the Saint Vincent de Paul Society Glen Huntly, we will be creating Christmas Hampers to gift to a large range of families in our community.

We would then ask, if able, for some donations from our families here at school. Most important for these hampers are non perishable food items as well as newly bought presents that may be suitable to give to children. Second hand items are always valuable donations, but will not be a part of our focus this Christmas.

We will begin to collect all donations in our school office over the coming weeks, where parents and students can feel free to leave their contributions as well. We again thank all of our community members for their generosity, and the love that is displayed consistently at our school.

Carols on the Green

A lovely tradition at our school we look forward to is Carols on the Green once again taking place in 2023, on Monday the 11th of December, beginning at 6.30PM. Each class around the school will be busy organising their lyrics and actions to present songs which are always a great hit. We hope for nice weather and know this will be a lovely time to spend together.

These are a range of events and initiatives to please keep aware of and assist where you are able.

We also know that we are close to the beginning of Advent and the journey towards the birth of the Lord. Further information and resources about this time will also be shared with families.

At this busy time please remember to look after yourself, and know you are all members of such a wonderful community. We look forward to continuing to work and celebrate together.

Take care,
