Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

You may well have heard about the Dance classes that “Maddie” from the Dance Company “Stomp” has been running with your children. Wow! There certainly is some energy in the room during these sessions which the children are enjoying enormously. Parents are invited to come along and enjoy the finished product next Friday afternoon, November 10th at Trinity College’s Jubilee Centre from 2:00 p.m.

There will be no cost to parents/carers for this event. We look forward to seeing you there.

ALL SAINTS DAY This Thursday, we will be celebrating Mass to commemorate All Saints Day. A time when we call to mind and pray for our loved ones who have gone before us. Mass will be at St Mary’s Church beginning at 10:00am. All parents and friends are invited to join us.

The children will be travelling to and from the Church by bus.

When we return from Mass the children will go out to play before our Mission Day fete which will be held from 11:45am until about 1:00pm.

The Mission Fete is always a fantastic day. Each grade will be staging a stall of some kind, with the older children running two or three per grade. All funds raised are donated to Catholic Mission which supports the work of Catholic charities in underprivileged communities throughout Australia and the wider world.

Children can bring along some of their pocket money ($5 usually buys a lot!) to purchase treats or enter various games of skill and chance at the stalls scattered around our schoolyard. Lots of fun and a very good cause.

SCHOOL CLOSURES

Our school will be closed on Monday, November 6th for teachers to prepare the children’s reports and again on Tuesday November 7th as it is the Public Holiday for the Melbourne Cup.

PREP 2024 BARBECUE Families who have someone enrolled to begin Foundation in 2024 are invited to our Family Barbecue on Thursday, November 16th. We will be conducting a brief Information Session at 6:00pm in the Multi Purpose Room to be followed immediately by a delicious BBQ tea and salads prepared by our staff. Families are invited to bring their own refreshments along.  This is always a fun night and a relaxed and friendly introduction to our school to new families and a good social gathering for the rest of us.

KIDS AND SOCIAL MEDIA Parents are reminded that children are not permitted to hold accounts with companies such as Snapchat and Facebook etc until they are at least 13 years old. This is for the very good reason that they are not yet old enough to use these platforms wisely. Children of this age are extremely vulnerable and susceptible to being fooled by older people who may not have their best interests at heart.

We are putting our kids at risk when we give in to them and ignore permitted age limits for the various social media platforms.

Our school’s I.C.T. Policy has been written after obtaining the best advice we could find. It is available on our website or can be found via this link S.H. I.C.T. Policy
