Principal Update

Melissa Mackenzie

We have completed another successful week of learning. The weather has been very unpredictable, with students and staff being inside and out during breaks as we try to avoid the showers and getting wet. The rest of the week is warming up and so I’ll take this opportunity to remind you that APS is a SunSmart school which means all people outside need to be wearing a broadbrimmed hat. If students are not wearing a hat they must play in the shade. Please support us by ensuring your child has a named hat with them every day.

Our Prep/One concert is coming up and there is great excitement with our younger students for this event. This year we are using the Thornbury High School theatre which is a new facility. The Kew High School theatre is under construction and so was unavailable. We were fortunate to be able to use Thornbury and to continue building our positive relationship with this school.

Thanks to those parents and students who volunteered during the Referendum on Saturday. Thanks also to those who donated cakes for this fundraiser and Todd P from School Council for organising. All money raised will go towards replacing the gates that are missing from Adams St. We are currently gaining quotes and hope to have these replaced by the end of the year.

The Fundraising and Events subcommittee of School Council are currently organising a Comedy Night which will be held in our school gym. The night to keep free is Saturday 25 November.  There is more information to come but please save the date.

We have the Smile Squad van with us for two weeks as they complete the dental work for those students whose families chose to use this service.

Have a great week
