Primary Report

It has been a busy start to Term 4, with lots of activity around the Primary area. The students and staff are working towards the end of another school year with lots of learning to be done along with those final assessments to close off the semester cycle, reporting timelines to be met and projects to be completed.

Of course, the swimming program is well under way with the students highly engaged in their lessons. As always, Yarra Swim School are providing a quality program for our children, and they will be well prepared for the water with the coming summer weather. It is so important for our children to have even the most basic skills around water, as the risks can be highly dangerous if they are not aware of them.

We have lots of fun events coming up, starting with Halloween on Tuesday 31st October. The students are asked to dress up in their choice of costume. We will hold a parade in the morning, they will visit the library throughout the day for some spooky Minute to Win it games, and I’m sure the teachers will have some more fun up their sleeves.

After the last horse has crossed the line in the Melbourne Cup, we will be preparing for our Pirate Day on Friday 10th November. Another opportunity for a dress up, this promises to be a fun day of piratey-themed activities. These will include: pirate crafts, a scavenger hunt, competitions, pirate ship races, a barbecue lunch($5) and more.

Next Monday, at the Primary assembly we will be announcing our new Primary leaders for 2024. Their parents have been invited to join us, and they will be given their official badges by Mr Panaccio. Our out-going leaders will also be acknowledged. I would like to thank our current leaders for their work over the year and the fine example they have provided for their peers.

Please ensure that you support your children’s learning by providing them with their classroom essentials such as stationery and books. Make sure that they are attending school as much as possible and that they come to school on time each day. It helps them enormously to read, even for a short time daily and complete set homework tasks to consolidate what they are learning in the classroom.

As we make preparations for the new school year, I ask you to let us know if you are planning longer holidays or leaving the school at the end of the year. This informs us for staffing and class arrangements moving forward.
