Science Week
Science week kicked off last week with a bang with special guest Professor Bunsen wowing our Year 8 and 10 students about how delicately the world is held together in God's hands and how it is our job to care for and steward the earth we have been given.
The science teaching team also put on a delicious morning tea for the staff including homemade cupcakes with the Greek alphabet on them! These opportunities to build community and connect are what make this college such a great place to work and learn. We are so thankful for these special events.
Primary Production
What a joy it was to see the Primary Production last week! With an incredible 480 students on stage, there should be a wing of the school named after the staff who helped facilitate getting those students in costume, on buses, on stage, singing songs and smiling all at the same time! A remarkable feat all done with a loving, patient and warm heart.
We loved the explosion of colour on the stage. Seeing the talents showcased by each of the students in both major and minor roles was a blessing for our whole school community. Thank you to all who participated, volunteered, and attended the event!
Programs are still available for purchase from either Reception or the General Office.
Father's Day Stall
Our Parents & Friends Father's Day Stall is on NEXT WEEK!
Primary: Thursday 29th and Friday 30th August
Secondary and Staff: Lunchtime - Thursday 29th and Friday 30th August
Look out for communication with more detailed information on what your child needs to bring on the day if they would like to buy something from the stall. All Primary classes will have an opportunity to go with their classroom teacher to visit the Father's Day Stall. This year we have a wide range of fun, practical and handy gifts for Dad, Grandpa or Dad-like figures. We love seeing the students thoughtfully choose gifts for their much-loved family members.
Our littlest Plenty Kids loved shopping for Dad this week and are busy preparing for Father’s Day in their Kinder classes as well! Shhh!
Thank you to our wonderful Parents and Friends Group for kindly putting on this valued stall. Any funds raised are put toward initiatives that benefit the students.
PVCC Alumni Reunion
As we prepare for our upcoming Alumni event on September 7th for our 5, 10 and 20 year Alumni, we thought we'd take the opportunity to shine a spotlight on one of our very own teachers!
A spotlight on Alumni and Teacher Clare Makoni:
Some of my favourite memories are the VCE camp to New Zealand with Mr Pitman and Mr Robbo, the Musical in Year 12, the Year 12 surf camp and Jazz Band.
- What year did you start working at PVCC? What year level do you teach? I started working at PVCC this year; 2024. I teach Grade 4, two days a week.
- Did your education at PVCC influence your career path? I wanted to start working here partly due to my fond memories of being a student here. I also have heard what a lovely place it is to work here! The students are all so polite and eager to learn and the staff are all so welcoming.
- What are some/one of your fondest memories here at PVCC as a student? Some of my favourite memories are the VCE camp to New Zealand with Mr Pitman and Mr Robbo, the Musical in Year 12, the year 12 surf camp and Jazz Band.
- What advice would you give student who are considering the path of education for their future? If you were considering becoming a teacher or working in education, I would say go for it! I am so thankful to have been able to make a difference in the lives of students I have taught. Yes, it is hard, and not always fun, but the rewards far outweigh all of the challenges.
What a joy it is to welcome Alumni back to the school as staff. We are so thankful to have such a connected community.
If you graduated from PVCC in 2004, 2014 or 2019 we would love to see you at our upcoming event on September 7th! Book your ticket today!
