To the Schools of Metropolitan Melbourne,

The Doncaster Squadron of the Australian Air League is hosting its' annual Open Night on Monday October 14th at the Greythorn Bowls Club, in Doncaster. We would greatly appreciate if you could extend this invitation to your school and its greater community, as we would love to get more young people involved.

The Australian Air League is a youth organisation for boys and girls aged from 8 years which encourages an interest in aviation as a career or as a hobby and fosters leadership skills in a fun and welcoming environment. Girls and Boys from the age of 8 years through to 18, are eligible to join a Squadron as a cadet and participate in the weekly meetings and regular activities. On reaching the age of 18 many cadets choose to remain in the organisation as Officers or Instructors, with some members having life-long associations with the Air League.

Our cadets attend Squadron parade nights each Monday night between 7:00-9:00pm, where they take part in a variety of interesting activities. These include ceremonial drill, model aircraft building, and aviation theory classes, such as Navigation, Aircraft Recognition and Aircraft Engines. We also offer recreational camps and are actively recruiting for our band, with lessons every fortnight in drums. Another key feature of the organisation is our air activity flying days, where Squadron members are taken for joy flights and are introduced to aviation. Many of our Cadets have experienced their first flight at one of these days.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me via email or phone.

Regards,

Thomas Howe
