Principal Report
Hello Diamond Valley College,
As I sit down to write this newsletter update, it's truly remarkable how quickly Term 3 has passed. It feels as though just a few short weeks ago we were in touch, yet the whirlwind of activity at Diamond Valley College makes time seem to move at double speed. Staff and students alike have been fully engaged in what has been an incredibly vibrant and productive term, filled with events, achievements, and memorable moments.
In the past week alone, I’ve had the privilege of attending several key events that truly showcase the spirit and dedication of our school community. One standout event was the Year 12 Motivation Dinner. It set a positive and motivating tone for our senior students as they enter this critical phase of their schooling. Our Year 12s are preparing for final assessments, SACs, and exams, and it’s inspiring to see how determined and focused they are. The dinner was a timely reminder of the collective support from both the school and parents as our students navigate these final stages of their secondary education.
Another highlight was the School Production, which left me speechless. I have worked at many schools over the years and often find myself saying, “This is the best production I’ve ever seen.” But this time, I am telling the absolute truth—it was by far the best I have ever witnessed! What made it so special was that the production was entirely student-written, making it an authentic reflection of their creativity and hard work. Well done to the entire production team, staff, and students involved!
Last Thursday we brought along a Coffee Van in the morning for senior students. This is a small yet meaningful way to provide a moment of relaxation for young people, students who are deep in their SACs and study plans, preparing for their final exams. We understand the pressure they are under, and this is just one of the ways we are supporting them during this high-stakes period.
Across the rest of the school, there has been plenty of other activity. Students have been involved in Gala Days, interschool sports, excursions, and leadership activities with local primary schools. These activities not only build strong community connections but also develop essential leadership and teamwork skills in our students.
RUOK? Day several weeks ago was another meaningful event. It served as a reminder for all of us to check in with one another, enhancing our culture of care and understanding. A special thank you goes to our student leaders for organising the Pancake Day fundraiser. Not only did it raise awareness, but it also brought the whole school together in a fun and positive way. We couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of our parents and carers who generously donated both their time and produce. Thank you! I’m proud to share that the students raised $662.50 through this initiative. Additionally, the MND Footy Day held the previous Tuesday raised $535.30. These events speak volumes about our community’s generosity and commitment to making a difference.
As we approach the end of Term 3, I would like to extend my gratitude to all staff, students, and families for your efforts, enthusiasm, and support throughout the term. It’s been an incredibly busy period, and I hope everyone takes the opportunity to enjoy the well-earned break. Please take time to recharge and spend time with family and friends.
Looking forward to Term 4, we are excited to announce upcoming changes to our Uniform Policy, based on direct feedback from students, staff, and parents. We are in the final stages of review and expect to begin a soft implementation of these changes in Week 2 of Term 4. Stay tuned for further details!
Once again, thank you all for your support in my first term at DVC. I wish you a restful and enjoyable holiday, and I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for the final term of the year.
Stay well,
Sam Luck
