Forgiveness:
“Forgiveness is the experience of being at peace right now, no matter what has occurred five minutes ago or five years ago… Forgiveness = Peace in the present” – Dr Fred Luskin
As we are approaching the middle of term, we have the opportunity to make space for reflection and intentional change for the rest of the term. As I have been reflecting, I have been processing what I have done well this term and areas I can grow for the rest. Taking care of one’s own well-being is tricky. We are complex beings and so much goes into making us well.
To put it another way, so many complex areas in our lives can keep us from being ‘well’. One of these areas is grudges. I know I have held grudges in my life, even knowing they are not good for me, sometimes it just happens. But study after study and story after story has proven that forgiveness is an essential key to healthy well-being and thriving in life.
Forgiveness is not forgetting, or glossing over what happened, but it is accepting the ‘no’ when you wanted a ‘yes’ and deciding to embrace, appreciate and be grateful for your life anyway.
