Our Year 11 Texts and Traditions students recently had the unique opportunity to visit the East Melbourne Synagogue, where they were welcomed by Rabbi Gutnick for an insightful session that bridged ancient texts and contemporary faith practices. The focus of the visit was on deepening the students' understanding of the Gospel of Luke, a central text in their studies this year. Rabbi Gutnick provided an enlightening perspective on the Gospel, exploring its themes and narratives through the lens of Jewish tradition. This was an invaluable experience, as it allowed the students to consider the Gospel not just as a Christian text, but also in the broader context of its Jewish roots. During the session, Rabbi Gutnick also shared his expertise on writing exegesis—a critical interpretation of religious texts—guiding the students on how to approach the Gospel of Luke with a scholarly mindset. His insights were particularly helpful as the students prepare to undertake their own exegesis projects, encouraging them to think deeply about the historical and cultural context of the texts they are studying.
The Year 12 VCE PE class attended as part of the Richmond Football Club Institute the ‘Richmond Experience’ which included:
• A presentation on sports and industry pathways
• Participation in a High-Performance Gym Session
Our students were exposed to career pathways within the health and physical activity sector, as well as completing a workout in a gym while learning a range of different exercises.

From Lucy and Stella Smith, Year 11 Legal Studies
Last Monday, 5 August, our Year 11 Legal Studies class attended the Supreme Court of Victoria. Our visit gave us a deeper insight and furthered our understanding of the court procedure in the complex world of civil law. We had two amazing ladies full of knowledge who took us around the building and into various court areas.
We were then fortunate enough to visit and explore the Supreme Court library and ask Judge Harper our burning questions. This question session became essential to building our knowledge surrounding the justice system, and having a real-life and experienced judge able to answer our questions, made completing our recent SAC on civil law much easier! His answers gave the entire class a great understanding of the courts and what it means to be a judge in both criminal and civil trials.
Our class had the chance to listen to a civil trial that showed us the process of a court case. It gave us the opportunity to deepen our understanding of all the legal terms we already know but on another level. We really took this excursion as a learning opportunity, and it was extraordinary for us to have this visit.
