So much happening in the MRC…
The RAGE book club headed to Dymocks for their first excursion of the year. Members were allowed to select books for the MRC collection. The students look forward to being the first to read the books they have selected. Book selection is thirsty work, so it was hot chocolate time all round!
It has been fantastic to immerse ourselves in the Olympics and wonder at the magnificent results and efforts of all the athletes from around the world. We now look forward to the Paralympics later in the month.
Our annual author visitor to the Year 7s was Anna Ciddor. Anna has written and illustrated nearly 60 books, including the best-selling “Runestone”, an historical fantasy, “The Family with Two Front Doors”, a story based on her grandmother’s childhood in 1920s Poland, and “52 Mondays”, inspired by Anna’s childhood memories of 1960s Australia.
Anna Ciddor inspired us with her passion for uncovering historical secrets and turning them into a gripping narrative, and her lively presentation was filled with ‘show-and-tell’ and audience participation. It was inspiring to hear about all the planning and research that Anna puts into her novels and illustrations.
Happy Reading

As part of our Health curriculum for our senior years, all Year 10-12 students are involved in yearly seminars about Drugs and Alcohol. This year Sharon Torpey was our guest speaker. She spoke about the latest, evidence-based information regarding alcohol and other drugs. She explained the facts, challenged common myths and examined how social norms influence perceptions and behaviors, particularly among young people.
Along with Sharon, a paramedic was also present who provided a different perspective on these issues and was able to provide real life stories about the consequences that they have seen as a result of drugs and alcohol.
