From our First Aid Room.
Dear parents and carers,
We are already halfway through the year. Some housekeeping from first aid.
- Borrowed clothes from school:
If your child has borrowed emergency clothing from the school, please wash and return the borrowed garments to the front office or the first aid room as soon as possible. Please note that there is no need to return under wear.
- Medication at school:
If you have provided the school medication for your child, please look out for emails/phone calls regarding expiring medication or low medication that needs replacing.
- Delivering medication to school:
- All medication provided to the school must be delivered by a parent to the front office, otherwise the school will not accept this medication.
- The medication must be in its original packaging with your child’s name labelled on the box.
- All new medication must be provided with a medication authority form. The form can be downloaded on the school’s website or obtained from the front office or first aid room.
- Action plans and health support plans:
Action plans are to be reviewed annually by a GP as outlined by the DET policy. Please ensure that you provide the school with up to date action plans.
- Headlice:
Let’s work together to minimise the spread of headlice at the school. Parents are requested to:
- Check their children’s hair at home and treat with a preparation obtained from the chemist if lice or nits are found.
- Children with hair longer than shoulder length must arrive to school with their hair tied back.
Please remember that no treatment kills all the eggs so treatments must involve two applications, seven days apart. the first treatment kills all lice; the second treatment kills the lice that may have hatched from eggs not killed by the first treatment.
Overnight treatment should enable your child to return to school the next day. Remember that no single treatment kills all of the eggs, so treatment must involve two applications seven days apart.
A reminder that children are required under the Health (Infectious Diseases) Regulations 1990 to be excluded from school, day care or crèche until they have been treated.
Please refer to the following website for detailed information on head lice and how to find and deal with them. http://www.health.vic.gov.au/headlice/
Please inform your child’s teacher/office if your child has had a case of head lice as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding,
Sarah Tran
