Parent Representatives

The Annual General Meeting of the Parents and Friends Association of the School Council was held on Monday, 12 August.

During the meeting we elected four parent representatives to the School Council.

The successful nominations and a short biography about each person is below. We wish them well in their governance oversight positions.

Yolanda Cox

Yolanda is currently the Vice-Chair of the School Council and has served as a member for the past 10 years.

Yolanda is married to Ben and together they have three gorgeous daughters. Savanna, Scarlett and Dakota. Yolanda is a Registered Nurse with post-graduate qualifications in Intensive Care Nursing and a Masters in Clinical Education. Yolanda currently works as the ECMO Clinical Nurse Consultant at Monash Medical Centre.

Yolanda and her family have been an active part of Hope in the Hills Christian Community in Tecoma for the last 19 years. In the past, Yolanda served a 3-year term on the Leadership Council of her church as a Congregation Representative.

Yolanda has enjoyed continuing to learn about the inner workings of our school. Yolanda enjoys the challenges that leadership roles bring and the opportunity to meet new people while contributing to the overall workings of an organisation.

Caroline Chudasko

Caroline wants to continue to actively and positively contribute to the school’s ongoing development and growth.

Caroline has two children who attend Belgrave Heights Christian School. Caroline and her husband chose BHCS for their children as they wholeheartedly believe and support the ethos and Christian values of the school. Additionally, both value the dedication and Christian influence that Christian staff provide to students, giving them the opportunity to learn about and enhance their relationship with God.

With a career background in Human Resources and school Office Management, Caroline has skills in both relationship building and business. These skills coupled with her faith can be applied to a School Council role, as the Council strives to ensure Belgrave Heights Christian school maintains and excels in providing the highest standard of Christian education.

Amanda Wight

Amanda has been on the School Council and has been a member for the last 9 years.  Amanda and her husband Tim have made the education of their four children in a Christian school (BHCS) a priority.  They love that God is the centre of our school and that staff frequently go above and beyond and that BHCS not only promotes positivity, but also actively seeks to grow Christian schooling.

Amanda considers herself to have had a privileged education and attended a private girls’ school, completing a double degree in Commerce /Arts at Deakin University. It was her days at a little Christian school in Adelaide, however, that she is most thankful for. She believes that they gave her a beautiful and nurturing introduction to education.

Amanda considers it both a blessing and a privilege to watch the children grow and flourish at Belgrave Heights as well as serving as a member of the BHCS council and as a member of Pulse.

Amanda and her family attend Resound Church in Scoresby.

Maré Peterson

Maré is a committed Christian, married to Tyrone, who she considers to be an amazing man of God. They have been happily married for 18 years and have three children, one of whom attends BHCS. Maré and her family are Australian citizens who immigrated from South Africa, grateful for the opportunities that God provided. Maré loves cooking, baking and anything arty or crafty. She also enjoys relaxing with a good book.

Maré is currently the Kids Team Leader and Operations Manager at Hills Church in Ferntree Gully, and works as a Team Leader at Hills’ Op Shop. Maré ran her own spa management business for 12 years, and has business experience in cake baking and decorating. She is very good with her hands and can fix just about anything (with the occasional helping hand from YouTube).

Maré and her family love the community feel and beliefs of the school. They love the support that's available to them spiritually and that it’s a community and that BHCS strives for a good strong Christian foundation, upholding God in the highest honour.

Maré believes that being on School Council would provide a great opportunity to get involved in the school and that being more involved in the educational system is crucial for the growth and development of children as individuals. Maré’s desire is to support the school and the parent community and serve in whatever capacity she can.
