Wyndham Principal Network Meeting

On Wednesday 4th of September, I was asked to present some of the many great things that Tarneit Senior College does to promote inclusion. As a Senior Secondary College, Inclusive practices, and initiatives that we can facilitate look vastly different to those that occur at other schools.

I am immensely proud of the work we have done and the steps we have taken to ensure that Tarneit Senior College is an education setting that strives to meet the needs of all our students, as well as celebrate the achievements and wins along the way.

Some of the programs that I had the privilege to highlighted were:

  • Our transition program for students coming into our school at year 10, as well as our supported transition program for those students who require a staged transition.
  • Our VPC program that has shown fantastic social, academic, and vocational outcomes for many of our students.
  • The strong connection we have with our local feeder schools, allowing us to be part of Student Support Groups (SSGs), completing Disability Inclusion Profiles (DIPs) as well as a strong handover process, preparing TSC to best support the new cohorts of students.
  • The Suite of Professional Learning that we have undertaken as a school, to better equip our staff with the tools and resources needed to support our young people inside and outside of the classroom.
  • The way the Tarneit Senior College school community is a proud and inclusive one, where we celebrate the diversity and differences between us.

We are doing some amazing things at Tarneit Senior College, and I was grateful to be able to showcase some of these in a forum that included Principals from our area network as well as staff from the Department of Education. A big shout-out to all the staff and members of our community that allow us to provide these opportunities for our students.
