Japanese

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are thrilled to update you on the fantastic progress Year 5 and 6 have made in their recent unit on Yurukyara! For those who may not be familiar, Yurukyara are Japanese mascots or characters that represent various cities, regions or organisations in Japan. These mascots are designed to be charming and embody specific traits related to their respective places or groups.

In this engaging unit, our students have been learning how to use adjectives to describe personalities and characteristics. They have been practicing crafting sentences about their teachers, family members and even their pets. It’s been truly heartwarming to see their effort and enthusiasm come to life through their descriptions.

Another aspect of our program involved a special project where our students created cheer-up messages for Wajima High School. We are delighted to report that these messages have now been displayed at Wajima High School, bringing joy to their students just in time for their Term 2. The heartfelt gratitude from Wajima High School has been overwhelming, and it's clear that our students' kindness and genuine care have made a meaningful impact.

Upcoming Events

We have some exciting events coming up that we’d love for you to be a part of:

Udon Noodle Day: Next Tuesday, 10th of September, we will be holding a Monty Mini Market - Udon Noodle Day! Join us for a fun and delicious experience as we enjoy this popular Japanese dish together. It’s a great opportunity for students to learn about Japanese cuisine and culture in a hands-on way.

Japanese Language Class for Parents: We are excited to offer a beginner-level Japanese language class for parents on Wednesday, September 11th from 3:45 to 4:15pm. This class is a great chance for you to learn some basic Japanese phrases and get a taste of the language your children are studying. There will be a gold coin donation requested to help support our language programs.

We look forward to seeing you at these events and continuing to celebrate the wonderful learning experiences our students are having.

Congratulations once again to Year 5 and 6 for their wonderful work and for spreading kindness beyond our school community. Keep up the fantastic effort!

Warm regards,

Junko Nichols
