Register for the Free Surfside Parent Workshop: Supporting Healthy Technology Use for your Child in 2026

Surfside will be offering a free parent and caregiver workshop to support families navigating children’s technology use in a balanced and positive way.

As technology continues to evolve — including the rapid growth of AI and social media influences — many families are wondering how best to guide children’s use while maintaining trust, connection and wellbeing. This workshop focuses on practical, realistic ways to support young people to build healthy habits, make safe choices online and develop confidence in managing the digital world.

Rather than focusing only on risks, the session explores how adults can foster open conversations, support emotional regulation around technology, and create clear expectations that work for their family.

All parents and carers are warmly encouraged to attend, whether your child is just starting to use devices or already highly engaged online.

Please see the flyer below for further details and session information.

Parent Volunteers Needed Surfside Book Stall

Surfside’s Book Stall is coming up from Monday 15th – Friday 19th May, and we’re looking for parent/carer volunteers to help make it a success!

If you have 30mins or so to spare, from 3:15pm until 3:45pm/4pm, during the week to assist with set up, sales, or packing up, we’d love your help. Volunteering at the Book Stall is a fun way to support our school and help foster a love of reading in our students.

If you are available to help, please let the front office know.

Thank you for supporting Surfside!

Online Resources and Support for Autistic and Neurodiverse Girls and Gender-Diverse Individuals

Yellow Ladybugs are an Australian charity with a global reach, run by and for autistic girls, women, and gender-diverse folks, and their families.

Autistic girls, women and gender diverse people are often misdiagnosed, misunderstood or missed completely. This is in part due to prevailing stereotypes, and the gender bias in the current diagnostic tools.

Many autistic girls and women and gender diverse autistic individuals (along with some autistic cis-males) have a more ‘internalised’ autistic presentation. Their needs are often hidden due to their ability to mask.

Yellow Ladybugs has a strong advocacy mission. Over the years they have spoken strongly and passionately about the importance of putting autistic voices and experiences at the centre of every political inquiry that has an impact on our community of autistic girls, women and gender diverse individuals.
