Welcome back to Term two and we hope that everyone had a great Easter break.

Industrial Action Update

As you might be aware, the AEU has planned further Industrial Action in an effort to improve the working and pay conditions of Victorian teachers and education support staff. The planned action will impact us at Anglesea Primary School. This means that students who are taught by AEU members may be subject to some strike action (potentially Tuesday 26 May) and may also not be provided with any written comments on their Semester One reports at the end of term. Additional action will not impact directly on students, but will have ramifications for the DET, meeting schedules, program initiatives, conference attendance and communication with regional and central offices. We will keep you updated with developments as soon as we know more.

ANZAC Service

Today we held an outdoor ANZAC Day Service at 11am led by our student leaders.

Tomorrow, two of our student leaders, Scout and Alice, will be representing Angleasea PS  at the Anglesea Memorial Service, marching from the Community Hall to the RSL at 9:30am, laying a wreath as well as being part of the speeches. 

Maintenance Upgrade - update

We have commenced undertaking a series of maintenance and upgrade works over the holidays and the work continues. The temporarary fencing will remain in the short term as the team install an in-ground irrigation system in the front Angair garden to support moisture retention and ensure the long-term sustainability of this important area. We are attempting to have minimal impact on the existing plant life.

Towards the end of next week, roller shutter updates and roofing improvements will commence (skylight upgrades, mesh around potential areas that may be impacted by embers)

Walls- update

We’re pleased to share that planning for our classroom wall project (the Gr1/2 and Gr3/4 spaces) is progressing, it has been a touch slower than we had originally planned but we have traction! Our permit applications are being submitted, the architectural designs are nearly finalised. We are currently preparing to move into the tender process to appoint a builder.

If all goes to plan, our aim is to begin construction later this term, with works to take place over the school holidays. This timeline would see the new classroom spaces ready for the first day of Term 3. Fingers crossed!

We’ll continue to keep you informed and will share a confirmed build date as soon as it is finalised.

Volunteers Wanted

Over the coming month we are looking to upgrade our existing vegetable garden area. We are looking to install a new green house, construct new garden beds, move existing garden beds, paint the existing garden shed, add a seed/cutting propogation area and build a new chook shed. If you are handy on the tools or within the garden and would like to lend a hand, we'll be aiming at having a few working bees to get the jobs done. Our aim would be to complete these jobs within school time with some students. If you are interested in being a helping hand can you please complete this survey around your availability and interest areas.
