Acting Principal's Message

Welcome back to term two! We managed some warmer weather at the beginning however, the weather has most definitely begun to turn on us. Please ensure students are now coming to school in their winter uniforms, if you have them, bring a coat or jumpers. If you should need some more winter uniform, please visit our office to arrange this. We also have a lot of donated uniform if you require some support.
We held our school's cross-country event in the first week of school term. Students represented our school values Respect, Responsibility and Resilience beautifully, trying their hardest on a warm day. Thank you to our staff organisers, as well as families who came on the day to show support to the George Street School community. Our Prep/ Foundation students were amazingly supported by our older students who helped them run a lap of the course. Those who qualified for Districts ran at Lake Hamilton yesterday.
A reminder that student support group meetings will be running this term. Some of you may have already been contacted by the classroom teacher or DI team. This is an opportunity to come together to appreciate the developing needs of your child and how they can be better supported by the school.
A shout out to Mason Sparrow for his participation in the WHP athletics in Warrnambool last week. Mason participated in the Discuss and threw 20.39 meters winning third place. Congratulations Mason on a fabulous effort.
Our school community came together with pride and respect to honour ANZAC Day this year, with a number of our students representing the school in the local ANZAC Day parade. It was a powerful moment to see our students march alongside veterans, families, and community members. They demonstrated outstanding respect and maturity, recognising the importance of commemorating those who have served and sacrificed for our country. A particular highlight was the role of our School Captains, Livana and Memphis, who had the honour of laying a wreath during the service. They carried out this responsibility with great dignity, representing not only our school but the values of remembrance, gratitude, and service that we aim to instil in all of our students.
Opportunities such as this are an important part of our work in developing active and informed citizens. Through participation in community events, our students gain a deeper understanding of history, respect, and the significance of national traditions.
I would like to thank the families who supported their children’s involvement, as well as the staff who attended and assisted on the day. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented our school and community. Lest we forget.
