A Word from the Principal
Ms Kylie Campbell
Welcome back to term two! I hope that you all had a fabulous break over Easter and got to spend some special time as a family. We have had a wonderful start to term two and the students have settled back into their learning well.

Remembering on Anzac Day always brings a tear to my eye but it is critical that our younger generations understand the freedoms that we enjoy here in Australia are because of the sacrifices made by others. Respect for our country and our flag is reinforced clearly at assemblies.
School Oath

Respect is one of our school values and we demonstrate this in many ways. We observe Anzac Day and we also acknowledge this each week at assembly. For new parents and as a reminder to others, at assembly we have a school oath that all students pledge.
Weeden Heights Primary School Oath
I love my country, Australia.
I value peace and freedom.
I will treat all people equally
I will respectfully look after the environment.
I’m proud of my school,
And I’ll do my best to make it a friendly and caring place.
I hope this helps your child to learn the oath.
Uniform
I’m sure that you have all noticed a change in the weather! Students are now able to wear their winter uniform and they are not required to wear their hats as of May 1 which is this Friday. They may of course choose to wear hats and that is absolutely fine. Please remember that tights or leggings are not to be worn with our summer dress. Girls are required to wear blue track pants or the tunic with dark blue tights/blue leggings & blue socks.
On another note, I have noticed a few students with black tracksuit pants and black shorts. Black is not a part of our school uniform so please keep these clothes for the weekend. Students need to wear blue trackpants and shorts or skorts.
School hours and supervision
Please remember that teachers will go on duty at 8.45am. I have seen a few students arriving around 8.20am and being left in the yard. There is no one there to look after your children. If you require care then please enrol in OSHC. Also, students are expected to be collected from school by 3.45pm. We understand that something may happen but there are no staff on duty from 3.45pm. A courtesy phone call is also appreciated if you are running late so we can ensure that your child is safe. If you can’t collect your child on time then please make use of the OSHC program (After the Bell). The service is here to support our school community so let’s support the service so that it remains at our school and within our community.
Education Week (18 May to 22 May)
We are currently organising our education week celebrations. This year’s theme is ‘Showcase Your School’ and will celebrate the unique strengths of Weeden Heights PS. The week highlights student achievements, teaching excellence, and community engagement through the open night, Grandparents Morning Tea and whole school maths day. It aims at showcasing school culture, learning opportunities, and community pride.
Please lock into your calendars Wednesday 20 May for our open night (4.30 – 7pm) and invite your friends and family to take a look through our amazing school. Our annual Grandparents morning tea will also occur on Tuesday 19 so please look out for an invitation coming home soon.
Prep Enrolment 2026 - Sibling Enrolments
I now require our Weeden Heights PS parents, who have children that are ready to start prep in 2027 to begin the enrolment process using the INSIGHT platform. Siblings of students who are currently at Weeden Heights PS have a guaranteed place for Prep in 2027 however, we still need these students to enrol and follow the Department of Education timelines.
I continue to conduct school tours on a Wednesday morning for families interested in attending Weeden Heights PS or have already enrolled. Please encourage your friends and neighbours to enter their enrolment on the INSIGHT platform for Prep in 2027. Enrolments are now due.
Our highly successful Bright Beginnings transition program commences on 9 September this year and we don’t want you or any future families to miss out on the opportunity.
Mother’s Day
I’m getting in a little early but ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ for Sunday 10 May! A big thanks in advance to our wonderful PFA who have organised the Mother’s Day stall for next Friday (8 May) I hope that all of our mothers/mother figures and the special people in our life are spoilt on this day.
Until next time……
Principal
