St Roch's ANZAC Day Liturgy
We were honoured once again to have Mr Gary Walker and Mr David Canny join us at our ANZAC Day Liturgy last Thursday afternoon. Gary, the Grandfather of Harriet in Year 6 and his wife Kaye have been a part of our ANZAC Day liturgies for the past five years. David is the Great Uncle of a past student Maggie and has joined us for the past three years. To have them lay a wreath with such reverenve and to hear their stories adds significance to this part of our history and culture.
Both men served in the Vietnam War 60 years ago. It is always a true priviledge to be able to honour and acknowledge their service of our country and to hear their stories. There presence is a powerful reminder of the spirit of ANZAC - courage, resilience and mateship. History is made real for our students.
As each person entered the Hall they were given a sprig of rosemary to hold. Sprigs of rosemary are often worn on Anzac Day. Rosemary grows in Gallipoli, Turkey, where many Australian and New Zealand soldiers lost their lives in World War One. Rosemary helps people to remember those brave Anzac soldiers.
I would like to thank the SRC Representatives from Prep to Year 6 who led this assembly with such composure along with the SRC Leaders Rose Iles, Harriet Jones, Aira Merchant and our Community Leader Harper Connellan. Thanks to all of the Year 6 students who contributed to the liturgy with complete reverence and respect. I would also like to thank the families who were able to attend and the staff who supported in many ways to make this liturgy a moving tribute.
P & F Easter Raffle
The much anticipated Easter Raffle was a huge success in the final week of Term 1. The excitement grew when the Easter baskets were displayed in the Reception foyer. Students couldn't help lingering, making secret wishes as to which hamper they might like to win as they collected lunch orders each day from the office. Huge thanks to Kate Bollard (Remi's Mum) and Bridie Parry (Lucy's Mum), our Prep Reps, and their team of helpers for their incredible organisation of the event and creativity in creating and displaying the baskets. Thanks to all the families who purchased more than huge number of tickets. Your support of our school is very truly appreciated .
Little Lane ELC Easter Egg Hunt at St Roch's
There was great excitement on the last Tuesday of the term as we welcomed the students from Little Lane ELC to St Roch's. The kinder students were assisted by the Year 6 leaders to collect hidden plastic eggs from the adventure playground. The Year 5 and 6 students had decorated an Easter basket for the little people and after a story it was time to go searching! The fun didn't end there because there were Easter bunny ears to make. Such a great way to end the term building connections with our locals ELCs!

We were delighted to showcase our amazing school this morning at our Open Day morning with our Year 6 school leaders. Please come along if you have the chance to see what a special place our school is to belong to, to learn and to grow within!
